We received an update today from HOLT with new pictures of Lucas. HE CAN SMILE and we've seen it. We now have the cutest picture of him in a frame right next to the ones of our other children. He is healthy, active, and playful. He is now in Addis Ababa at the care center there, where we have heard over and over about the loving nannies and staff. We also have HOLT friends who are leaving this month for Addis to pick up their children and have said they will hug him for us. What a blessing this is!!!!
Some of the information we received about Lucas' past was troubling. He was given some "treatment" by a traditional healer to try to cure a small problem he had and the treatment was far worse than the original problem. As a result, he has many small scars on his head. This does not effect his current health, but will be quite a conversation piece for him in the future. We will have to think about ways to help him answer the many questions his peers will have as he goes through school.
It was such a joy to see that smiling face today and we pray a court date will be given to us very soon.
ohhh tears of joy for your family. Court is being aligned I'm sure! I am happy you have seen "the smile." We will pray for your little man and for guidance for your family on the new information!

Lucas is adorable. What a handsome little boy. I just want to squeeze his cheeks. Thank you for sharing your pictures with Gary and myself at the studio. We are excited to do the wish and quilt square.
